Rasmi puts up another man of the match performance in Div B

 

DOHA: Mohammed Rasmi turned in a commendable all-round performance and guided Redco to a third triumph in as many matches in the Qatar Airways Division B Cricket Tournament.

 

Qatar Airways is the title sponsor for the annual tournament, which features 56 teams competing for top honors across three divisions. Over the years, the tournament has attained new heights and featured talented cricketers from Qatars diverse expatriate community.

 

At the West Bay Grounds, Rasmi removed half the Lanka Knights Club team, giving away just 15 runs. As a result, Redco shot out them for only 114 runs. Later Rasmi blasted four sixes and four boundaries to post 52 in 27 balls.

 

Farhan got 31, which included a six and four shots to the rope to help Redco reach the target for the loss of three wickets in 10.4 overs. For Rasmi, this was his second man of the match performance. Shyam got two wickets for 25 runs.

 

Vigneshwaran of Qatar Super Kings slammed an unbeaten 89 in 42 balls to set up a nine-wicket rout of Gulf Warehousing Company in another match. After restricting the opponents to 117 for eight in 20 overs through a three-wicket haul from Sabesh, QSK raced to the victory in 10.3 overs.

 

The third win in a row took QSK to the top of the table along with Redco. Vigneshwaran, who was declared the man of the match, clobbered 18 boundaries in his entertaining knock. GWC suffered second defeated in two matches.

 

Doha Bank and United Challengers also maintained their winning run in the tournament, recording their second successive triumphs. Jack (three wickets) and Chameera took five wickets between them to contain Chattagram Super Kings at 95 for eight in 19 overs.

 

Manjula played 28 balls and got 54 before engineering a nine-wicket victory over the rivals in 11.4 overs. His brilliant knock had five sixes and two boundaries. This was the first defeat for Chattagram in three matches.

 

Mohammed Riyaz’s aggressive 72 laid the base for United Challengers’ big score of 205 for four. He hit two sixes and a doze of fours in his 33-ball innings to dominate the opening stand of 106. Sunil added 35, while Naser chipped in with 29 and opener Ahnaaf made 27.

 

Man of the match Naser then led the downfall of Transfast Legends with three for 32. Farhan and Nikas shared four wickets. Jesil (40 with seven fours) and Sajimul (30 with two sixes and four boundaries) tried their best but it was not enough to save them from a 34-run loss.
