Chalmers of Australia wins first round of the Qatar Off-Road Championship in Moto category


Martin Chalmers of Australia topped the charts in the Moto category in the first round of the Qatar Off-Road Championship will concluded on Saturday and which took place over two days.

Qatar’s Mohammed Al Kaabi took the second place on the podium while Badr Al Bader of Saudi Arbia finished third.

The championship, organised by the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF), saw 34 drivers from 12 countries taking part in the championship. Besides drivers from Qatar, the other competitors were from UAE, Kuwait, Hungary, Russia, Great Britain, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Australia, Belgium and Germany.

In the Auto category, nine competitors are taking part.  

The championship will consist of six rounds. The first round will be the Baja category, while two more rounds will also be Baja category (Third and fourth round).

The second round to be held on March 11 and 12 will be Enduro (endurance) while the fifth and last round, the dates which are yet to be announced will also be of Enduro category.

The third round will be held on March 23 and 24 and the fourth round on March 26.

Each round will be open to vehicles of the following classes: Class 1 - Motorcycles up to and including 450cc; Class 2 - Motorcycles over 450cc and Class 3 - Quads. Each round will be run on a desert circuit specially designed for the purpose.
