ISC Cricket Super Cup trophy unveiled by Indian Ambassador

Doha,
Qatar: Dr. Deepak Mittal, Indian Ambassador to Qatar on Sunday unveiled the
Indian Sports Centre (ISC) Cricket Super Cup trophy as a glittering function
held at the Indian Cultural Centre in Doha.
The
ISC Cricket Super Cup Qatar, is a thrilling fast-paced tournament involves 16
teams and nationalities beyond the Indian Subcontinent and will be held from
March 4 to 18 at College of North Atlantic – Qatar and Asian Town Cricket
Stadium
The
tournament is conducted by Indian Sports Centre , an apex body operating under the patronage of Embassy of India in
Qatar, in technical collaboration of Warriors
Sports Center.
Speaking
on the occasion, Dr Mittal said:”The cricket tournament is part of the ISC’s
commitment to promote sports and connectivity through sports within
the entire expat community and it's fascinating to see that 16 teams
from expat communities will be participating from different nationalities, it's
a wonderful event and i my best wishes o ISC and all the participating teams.”
He
also disclosed that more sports activities will be held by ISC in the coming
months.
“There
is a big potential to promote sports here (in Qatar) as it is a sports capital
over the years and this year is special with FIFA (World Cup) around
the corner, so more sports more activities it's even better, so congratulations
to ISC for putting forth this wonderful event of sports and also for
the series of other events which are being planned and executed over them over
coming months,” he added.
Kushal
Kumar of Warriors Sports Center under whose technical leadership the event is
being held said that the ISC Cricket Super Cup is to celebrate Azadi ka Amrit
Mahotsav.
“This
event is organized to bring the expat community of Qatar together to encourage
sporting culture, camaraderie and brotherhood in Qatar's through cricket. The
occasion celebrates the spirit of freedom, sports and togetherness while
bringing all expat families to celebrate 75 years of Independent India.”
Giving
more details about the tournament, Kushal informed that the aim is to create
interest and develop cricket at grassroots level and will be a ‘thrilling
fast-paced contest’.
The
tournament will involve 16 Teams of various nationalities beyond Indian
Subcontinent and will be played in a “Super-8 format spanning over 11 days of
thrilling fast paced contest”.
The
organizers plan to make it a family event and not just confined to players.
“The
tournament will be an engagement platform for participants, supporters and
families through kids zones, food and beverage stalls and entertainment besides
lucky draws and give-aways in the arena on all days of the event,” added
Kushal.
The
trophy which was revealed on February 20 by Dr Mittal in the presence of Indian
Sports Centre President Dr Mohan Thomas and other executive members will visit
some key locations in the coming days.
“In
the following days, the Trophy Tour will take place at four prestigious venues
such as public places, malls and restaurants with an aim to create awareness
about the tournament, participating teams, players and nationalities involved,”
he added.
“This
event is set to begin a new era of high quality sports event organisation in
Qatar with an aim to harness and highlight new talent and inculcate a culture
of well-being, sportsmanship & fair-play through professional and
innovative management,” added Kushal.
The
event aims to create a buzz in both traditional media and social media.
“We
are aiming for over 150,000 social media impressions for #ISCCricketSupercup,”
said Kushal.
