Cyanotype is a photographic printing process that dates back to 1842, discovered by scientist Sir John Herschel. It was famously used by botanist Anna Atkins, who created the first photographic book using cyanotype prints of plants. The process involves coating paper with a light-sensitive solution, placing objects or negatives on top, and exposing them to sunlight. When developed with water, the images appear in a striking blue hue.
Kiran Kallur is a photographer and mountaineer with over a decade of experience in photography, filmmaking, and alternative photographic processes. His work has appeared in The New York Times, Al Jazeera, and other international publications, capturing stories from the mountains and remote landscapes.
